Biffa has moved Robin Stevenson from his role as managing director of Scotland鈥檚 Hamilton Waste & Recycling, acquired by Biffa in November 2023, to run its 聽construction & demolition (C&D) waste division.
Biffa operates C&D processing facilities in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cardiff and Hampshire, and is the UK鈥檚 leading supplier of waste skips.聽聽
Stevenson said: 鈥淭he government鈥檚 plans to deliver 1.5 million new homes over the next five years, as well as accelerating the delivery of major infrastructure projects, means our C&D division is a high-growth business within Biffa鈥檚 portfolio of services
鈥淥ur growth strategy includes primary and secondary acquisitions and the expansion of our recycling infrastructure, as well as developing partnerships with regional operators who share our values and commitment to outstanding service.
聽鈥淕rowing low carbon recycling solutions for our local authority and industrial customers across the UK, as well as increasing the number of recycled products available to the construction industry, will help reduce emissions and contribute to a more circular economy.鈥�
Stevenson was previously managing director of Hamilton Waste & Recycling, Scotland鈥檚 leading C&D waste collection and processing business, handling more than 135,000 tonnes of material a year, including wood, plasterboard and mattresses.
鈥淭hroughout my career I have worked with house-builders and construction companies of all sizes, helping them establish cost-effective and sustainable solutions for their waste,鈥� he said. 鈥淚n doing so, I have enabled them to reduce waste density on-site and helped to develop circular solutions for materials that were previously regarded as waste.

Stevenson joins four other divisional MDs within Biffa鈥檚 Collections & Specialist Services business, alongside Paul Coulton (industrial & commercial), Steve Cole (municipal), Gavin Williams (specialist services) and Chris Burns (company shop group).
